Afiya is from new Orleans. When she was nine years old, she started to lose her sight. And by the time she had her first child, her sight was still decreasing, and they actually took her child away from her because they thought that she was not capable of taking care of her own child. She fought for her child, ended up winning and raised her child perfectly, had one more child and now they have moved to Greensboro. And they have been here for nine months and Afiya works at the Industries of the Blind.
