Dima Dorosevici (00:00):
So for me, when I look at this piece, one of the things that stands out to me the most is just how well-balanced this piece is. Um, you have Afiya with her children on the left-hand corner, but Afiya's is figure stands, um, very, very to the forefront, um, which kind of dominates the piece and that's who this piece was made for. Um, and then in the background, you have just enough of a taste of New Orleans to not only understand that it's new Orleans, um, if you've never been there, but also it, again, it's another way of bringing color out and making this piece exciting.
Julia Alexander (00:43):
Um, like Dimitri said, uh, when you first look at this painting, you automatically know that you are in New Orleans and, but what stands out to me the most is Afiya and her two children, because yes, there, they are not the only figures in the painting, but they are the three that stand out the most. Um, whereas the three figure jazz band is, are, they're silhouettes.
