Vickie Burke is an African-American woman who was born blind in the mountains of North Carolina. She experiences the world through hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching thriving in a world that sees her disability as a liability. Burke encourages everyone to ask questions, to not let fear stop them from learning about how differently people can experience the world. She believes everyone is different and everything is not for everybody, but that everyone deserves the chance to discover the world and all of its possibilities.
