Kathleen Severa (00:00):
This painting is full of, and exudes, great warmth through its bold earthen tones. These tones of warmth clearly come from the experience and welcoming community at Industries of the Blind. From the physically protruding collage pieces that push their way into the environment. The piece can be viewed through its textile influence the textile like patterns of the painting breakthrough to develop the physical sense of tangibility. The abstraction does not come from the sighted privilege of the artist. The actually delves into an inclusion of all those, with the ability to create the flowers amongst the patterns grow out as budding opportunities. This abstracted window goes two ways. The window may be looked into what is possible, but also back out at the opportunities in one's own lifetime.
