Madisson Yarnell (00:02):
My own personal interpretation begins with an overwhelming feeling of warmth and security. I find this comes from the earth-toned paints that were used. It vaguely reminds me of home as the purple flowers stretches across the window, just like they do during the spring in my hometown. To me, this painting represents the overwhelming sense of joy one has the opportunity to feel after a long period of transition, which for me personally, was adjusting to college and being away from home for the first time. The way the window recedes back into space, it makes me feel like I could jump into the painting and just be in a world of warmth and sunshine. I believe that is how the LaToya felt after finding Industries with Blind and becoming comfortable in her own body. Again, I've always had a soft spot for both abstraction and textiles. So the combination of both in this painting offers a sense of familiarity for me. The painting as a whole feels like a warm hug after a long day. And I believe Hannah did a great job at capturing the LaToya's kind spirit and her life full of opportunity.
